A Casa di Serena: reviews and guests' comments

REVIEW: The Casa di Serena was lovely with a beautifully decorated common room and the convenience of breakfast and especially coffee. Also, the Casa was walking distance to the Vatican and the subway, making getting around easy even for novices like us! We did find closet space limited as we were there for 4 nights and pretty much lived out of our suitcases. Also, more towels would have been very appreciated. Our host, Franko, was very helpful and available when we had a question. We would stay again and recommend Casa di Serena to our friends. Donna Benaquisto Bill Merritt

REVIEW: We had a wonderful visit at A Casa di Serena. Our host, Franco was perfect with helping us find our way around Rome with buses and the metro. He made us a great breakfast and spent time visiting us and made us very welcome. The room was very clean and looked inviting. Italia Lodging was very easy to work with, always answering our emails promptly and even helping to arrange transportation from the airport. We would use this company again!

REVIEW: A Casa di Serena is part of the first floor of a building which looks quite like an office block, and is a little awkward to find as there is no sign outside as such, just the name on a buzzer. The manager is on the premises between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. so consequently if you arrive outside these hours, after phoning him, you should be prepared to wait a while before he comes to let you in. We stayed four nights in October 2013. The location is close to the Vatican and metro station Cipro, and there are a number of restaurants nearby. We had a triple room with en suite shower room. The room was clean and everything worked properly. There was air conditioning and small fridge and it was quiet. Breakfast could be improved. It consists invariably of quite good coffee from a machine; tea; orange juice; half a cheese sandwich; packet of biscotti biscuits with packet of butter and packet of cherry jam; and a sticky pastry. It would have been nice at least to have had a selection of cereals (healthy, ideally), fresh milk, fresh fruit and yoghurt; but maybe that is not usual in Italian B&Bs. The manager was very helpful and polite. My summary would be that it's a basic but perfectly adequate establishment and reasonably priced for Rome.

REVIEW: Our group of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We chose it for its proximity to the Vatican which was about a 10 to 15 minute walk. We felt very secure and safe in the facility. It was clean, the beds were comfortable and the air conditioning worked very well. The breakfasts were typical European and were more than adequate. The staff was outstanding, particularly Franco. He arranged transportation for us and suggested restaurants. Our granddaughter left her I-Pod in the room when we checked out of the facility and we did not realize it until we had boarded a train to Salerno. When we arrived at our destination, we called Franco & he told us he had the I-Pad and he would send it to us by express mail. However, we had a friend in Rome who would be with us in Salerno and he made arrangements to meet Franco to get the I-Pad. Needless to say we were so pleased that Franco was so accomodating. Thank you and we will certainly use your facilities when we next visit Rome. Jp

REVIEW: B&B close to San Pedro and Vatican. Decent breakfast. We took a taxi every morning and came back walking, 4 to 5 hours, during four days, every day another staring point. Although we had rain every morning the sun was shining every afternoon. Nice accomodation, but with the new pope ÇÇRome is still more expensive as it was already. A nice stay anyway.

REVIEW: We stayed in A Casa di Serena for two nights with my family of five. The reception was great and parking was easy in the parking garage next door. The room was spacious and clean and we had a private and shady roof terrace available which was very pleasant to give your feet some rest after a long day in Rome. Location is good and close to a subway station, just in case your feet might give up. Finally, there is great dining in the area and a good pizzeria next door. I would certainly recommend this place. REVIEW: We stayed at 'A Casa di Serena' for 5 nights and had a truly great holiday. The breakfast bar was good and really convenient, there were plenty of decent restaurants within walking distance and it is a great situation for seeing the wonderful sights of Rome - we only used the Metro once and walked everywhere else. Franco was always helpful and keen to try and make sure we enjoyed our holiday, and he recommended some great restaurants - 'Dino & Tony' cannot be missed! Our taxi transfers were easy and took all the hassle away from the journey. The room was large and comfortable and very clean - we would have liked some coffee in the room but that is a minor point. All in all an excellent break and we would definitely return to 'A Casa di Serena'

REVIEW: I recommend this house to anyone who wants a visit to Rome. Keep in mind that this is a bed and breakfast and not a hotel but everything is very clean and well kept. We've been with two small children and an elderly woman in a large room with 3 beds of 90 and matrimonal bed very comfortable. You have television and wifi service. The owner, Franco, is very aware of its customers, we received on Friday at 12 and a half hours p.m and through e-mail or when I was in the house he take us care. The location of the house is very good: 10 minutes walk from the Vatican Museums and 5 minutes from the subway, so you can visit the city very comfortably.

In ogni caso buon rapporto qualità prezzo, consigliabilissimo. Certificato Tripadvisor.

REVIEW: We had a wonderful time at Casa di Serena. Everything was perfect although on the first two nights we stayed at a room with a private bathroom which was outside our room. It was a bit more of an effort cause we had to open and close the bathroom with a lock whenever we used it. But on the third night we were transferred to a room with a bathroom within our room already so that was so much better. Our hosts were wonderful and very helpful. The place was safe and very near the Vatican City. We will definitely stay there again when in Rome.

REVIEW: We arranged arrival transportation through the hotel and it was punctual and good. We enjoyed our stay - in contrast to the experience of some other recent guests (see Tripadvisor). We had a nice, clean, comfortable and quiet air-conditioned room for 4 people with a good-sized terrace to sit out on and en-suite bathroom. Its not central (thats why we chose it!) except for the Vatican Museums (very close) but is excellently located for getting around most everywhere (including the Castello, Tastevere and Centro Storico) by bus and metro. St Peter's Square, however, does involve walking round to other side of Vatican City - did not bother us. We did find both Franco and Sandro a bit vague and when we asked if Serena existed we were told yes, but we were not going to see her. Would have given a better rating had it not been for below-standard breakfast at a noisy cafe and being obliged to pay in cash.

REVIEW: We were very happy with our choice of A Casa di Serena! We stayed for 5 nights in room number 5 which was the family room and accommodated our family of four perfectly! The extra bonus was this room had access to a private terrace for sitting outside as well as drying the laundry that we were able to do with our own in-suite washing machine! Franco was very helpful in getting us our Vatican Museum tickets on line. We loved the little pizzeria located in the same building as the bed and breakfast and the brand new gelato place just a few meters from the entrance was a nice way for us to end our evenings. The only thing that maybe could use some improvement is the size of the breakfast. Each day we were given vouchers for breakfast at a local cafe and we were able to get juice, coffee, water and a pastry. It was enough for me but my kids and husband would have liked a little bigger breakfast, which I guess we could have purchased. Over all we were very happy and would have no problems recommending A Casa di Serena! Grazie!

REVIEW: First of all i would really like to thank serena for the wonderful welcoming since the day we arrived my husband and little daughter are grateful too, then the great atmosphere , amazing room, decorations , lights, cleanliness, everything is just perfect. The only notice i have is if we got a private bathroom rather than an adjoining one but i believe this was because we booked a bit late.Anyways in general we were so happy and if we had the chance to visit rome again we would love to come to the same place, putting in mind its really near many touristic places like the vatican. Thanks again serena , and looking forward to seeing you again soon. P.S my daughter says hi , eventhough she still doesnt talk but she loved you.

REVIEW: What a wonderful place to call home for our 8 day stay in beautiful Roma. Perfect accommodations, perfect location and the best of service possible. Serena's assistance in getting reservations, suggested places to eat and shopping locations saved tons of time. She even arranged transportation from the port at Civitavecchia to the B&B and then to the Airport. Thank you so much Serena. Suite [#]5 was large, clean and with a huge patio to boot. ...and with a washing machine? Did that save the day after getting off an 7 day cruize ship. She even remembered my Birthday with Champagne and pastry. What more can you ask for? When we return to Roma, we'll be booking at Casa di Serena. Thank you so much Serena.

Cordiali saluti Antonino Piu

REVIEW: We stayed at Casa di Serena for 8 nights for our 10 year wedding anniversary. We scoured online reviews trying to find the perfect, but reasonably priced accommodation for our stay - Casa di Serena did not disappoint. When we travel, we want try to immerse ourselves in the local culture, this B & B made this very easy to do. It truly was like staying with family. We stayed in the red room with the balcony; it was a wonderful place to sit in the evenings. There is an amazing local market nearby where we shopped for our lunch each day (fresh bread, cheese and wine - bring your own bottle - even a water bottle and they will fill it up with great, cheap wine). Breakfast is at the local pub - warm croissants and cappuccino along with the rest of the locals. The location was perfect for us as well. It is an easy 5 minute walk to the metro stop, which we used almost every day. There were plenty of local restaurants around for amazing, delicious dinners - all within a 5 - 10 minute walk. Needless to say, we can't recommend Casa di Serena enough for travelers who really want to experience a slice of Roman life. We will definitely stay there again.

REVIEW: My wife and I stayed at the Casa di Serena for 6 nights in March and could not have been satisfied with our lodging and with the wonderful staff. Traveling to italy to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary began with a relaxing stay in Rome. We were met at the airport by the driver we requested through Serena and were driven in smooth comfort directly to the front door of Casa di Serena. We were met by her assistant "Rudel", who showed us to our room and checked us in within minutes. Our room was spotless and having mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary, Serena had a bottle of Prosecco and some chocolates and biscotti with a card wishing us a happy anniversary. There was even an inflated heart shaped balloon tied to our bed wishing us happy anniversary. In the morning, we met Serena and she was a wealth of information advising us of which buses and metros to take to our site-seeing and providing us with a street map of Roma. The B & B is tastefully decorated with a comfy living room area with lots of art books for the guests to look through and a dish that was always full of mints and sweets. The bathrooms were spacious and very clean. The location is very near the Vatican and all the bus stops and metro stations are within easy walking distances. Every morning we had coupons we could redeem at the Antico Caffe Doria for cappucino, tea, orange juice and a cornetto. The caffe was right across the street from the B & B. Overall, we were more than satisfied with our stay and would gladly recommend A Casa di Serena to anyone wishing to stay at a nice, quiet and very relaxing atmosphere. Keep up the good work, Serena! You run an excellent Bed & Breakfast. If my wife and I ever return to roma, we will look forward to staying here again. Mille Grazie!
