REVIEW: First of all - excellent placed in central ancient Rome - walking distance to sightseeings even if you are 80 years old. Helpfull landlord and maid. Breakfirst with different things, though very little bread - not serving breakfirst on sunday, maid is off that day and landlord was also not home - maybe not every sunday, though we found out to have it up night before Only windows from roof, no windows else inside, except for the intrance door Very clean, nice funished

REVIEW: My girlfriend and I spent a week in Italy, traveling to Milan, Cinque Terre, Florence, and finished in Rome. We spent 2 nights in Rome and highly recommend Domus Frattina. This place is amazing - absolutely worth every penny. It is located near the Spanish Steps, great shopping, a Metro stop (critical), and less than a 20 minute walk to other key sites like Colosseum, Vatican, and Pantheon. The place itself is at the top of a 4 (or 5) story building. The top floor is the owner's residence, and, from what I can tell, it looks like they have converted their attic to this B&B. There are only 2 rooms for rent at the Domus Frattina. Both have their own large bathroom (shower is small), and the roof is sloping (thus my thinking this was their attic). Both rooms open to the terrace, which is amazing, and nice to enjoy breakfast, a glass of wine, or pick up dinner and eat at "home". Both have A/C and heat. We stayed in the "white room" - it had a mini-fridge with waters (complimentary), and we were able to store some things from the supermarket (and beer). It seems like the place is run by the owner's live-in housekeeper. And, she is awesome. She is super nice and very accommodating. She made breakfast in the morning to our specifications (asking us what we wanted, and she provided). We requested it at 9:00a.m., and it was ready at 9:00a.m. on the dot. It was served on the terrace, table clothes, china, and the works. The following day, it rained - we came back, relaxed, and my girlfriend was cold. I knocked on the owners apartment door and asked for a cup of hot tea. She came up with an assortment of fresh teas, nice china, little cookies, and the works. She went way above and beyond. Her English was much better than my Italian, so we were able to communicate - just be patient. This place deserves a 10 out of 10. However, there are a few things to be aware of. First, when you arrive, either have their mobile number, show up at the arranged time, and/or buzz their apartment from the street. Reason being, it is 4 or 5 flights of narrow stairs. I hiked the stairs with our two 50lb suitcases. It was hard. Once I got to the top, I realized that there is an elevator. My fault. Also, there didn't seem to be a light in the stairwell once you get toward the top. So, at night (and after a lot of wine), be careful going up. Even though there is an elevator, it is not for consistent use - more so for bags and stuff. You'll want to walk the stairs...trust me. The elevator was nice the day we left with our bags, but it was a scary ride. If you have a cell phone, it can light the stairs for you. Lastly, there is no "check-in" counter, and they do prefer cash, so make arrangements to "check out" and pay, probably the day before you leave so you aren't scrambling the day of your departure. Lastly, you can ride the metro from Termini or take a $15 cab ride (12 Euro). Take a cab. On your departure, do not arrange for a taxi (cab company charges for setting a specific pick-up time)...walk out the door, take a left, 1st right, and two blocks down on the left is a taxi station. That is, if you don't want to do the metro. The Domus Frattina is great and highly recommended!!

REVIEW: Incredible location - within walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, Vatican, Trevi Fountain, etc. Beautiful room at the top of a building with a spectaculat roof top terrace - where breakfast is served. Warm hostess. Feels like you are staying in someone's home - which was very special. Slightly disappointed that our bed was not made after our first night and no toiletries were supplied (soap, shampoo, etc.). Only cash was accepted for payment. We would stay here again, though.
